The Earnestness of being Important

The clerk examined the paperwork
without looking up.
‘This won’t do’ she said.

Statement of Motor Insurance
with all the relevant details.

The clerk replied that she required a
Certificate of Motor Insurance.

  1. Love the jaunty, broken rhythm of this one - alludes to the comedy of the situation and the discordance between the speaker and clerk. Good stuff!

  2. Thanks - I really enjoy writing the light hearted vignettes, particularly as they have a tendency to trivialise some of life's little frustrations - most important !!
