Faces on walls

Faces on walls
Smile from another dimension.
I wonder whether they had
Any intention
Good or bad
By chance or invention
To make me glad
Of their eyeballs?

About The Poet

John H Davies was born in 1962. After Uppingham and Sandhurst he served as an Infantryman in the British Army, and later as a mercenary in Central America, where he was detained in solitary confinement for a year as a prisoner of war. Since returning to the UK he worked in the manufacturing industry for 20 years, before joining a security company in East and Central Africa. After 4 years in Serengeti (Tanzania) working for a tourism and conservation organization, John was persuaded to jump back into the fire and start a security company in South Sudan. The poetry is influenced by early events, and subsequent adjustment to the day to day life of work, family and relationships. The poem 'Chinese Whispers' appeared in The Spectator, and Shropshire Life magazine published a monthly piece for a year selected from the blog. John can be contacted mwambani@hotmail.com
